Re: Radio membership Topology
Sorry, but no. We have no idea how many members from those areas have already voted as being in the South East or elsewhere, so adding a new option will distort the figures.
Apart from that the forum software only allows a limited number of options.

Re: Radio membership Topology
If options are added now then people may want to have their selections updated. It is what it is.... which IMO is fairly pointless. If there was a serious requirement for the information by BVWS or whatever I could extract it from the database for all active members and create a report, rather than just the numbers those who happened to notice and respond to this poll.

Re: Radio membership Topology
Thanks for everyone who's posted so far.
It's just a straw poll and I am surprised that so far the South East hasn't run away with it. Indeed it seems to confirm my feeling that the North seems to be over represented compared to the general population on this forum. Of course as pointed out this is only a poll of those who choose to respond. I am not taking any conclusions from this about BVWS topology I suspect they might be quite different. Pillenwerfer may have a point maybe folk up North are more likely to post or join a forum. I suppose as a forum is non geographic there are fewer barriers to membership. I would like to allow this to run for a while, I do know that quite a few forum members are a bit busy during the week. Cheers Mike T

Re: Radio membership Topology
Just occurred to me- shouldn't the title be "topography" rather than "topology"?

Re: Radio membership Topology
Down South they have more money, hence can afford BVWS membership.

Re: Radio membership Topology
Please point me to the source of this "more money" I wouldn't mind grabbing a share
Also quite like to have lower housing costs as well However I do accept there are more high paid jobs particularly in the SE but not all of us have these I am paid the same as my colleague in the North and the Midlands. Cheers Mike T

Re: Radio membership Topology
I selected North West because it's where I'm registered to vote and have a Doctor etc but like other Forum Members I have two locations roughly equally split. I don't think there are so many examples of this that it should "skew" the results too much though!
Dave W There is more money in the south but it's a myth to believe it's widely distributed. Hastings and St Leonards is one of the poorest parts of the country. East Sussex has eleven miles of motorway and it was quicker to get to Hastings by train in the 1880's! Last edited by dave walsh; 24th Sep 2018 at 7:46 pm. |

Re: Radio membership Topology
How come folk have the time to fanny about with meaningless statistics ?
Time would be better spent attending to radios & equipment in need of TLC, which might be residing in lofts & sheds. What I do advocate - whether you're a Forum, BVWS, VMARS, ARS, etc., member - is folk getting together outwith internet facilities, and sharing their interests, experiences, bits & bobs, etc. - face to face. More so for folk in remote regions, or folk who cannot regularly get to swapmeets, auctions, etc. Regards, David |
