"The pyrotechnisist's treasury" is very tempting, but not sure I trust myself with it, so will have to give it some thought Ed!

I would have be keen to have the Marconi service data manuals to scan for the forthcoming new service data DVD-ROM and would have be happy to post them onto someone else after scanning. However I was too late this time.

I was wondering if there might be some data re my Marconiphone 292 Radiogram Paul but I'm thinking I might already have that I will try to check it out. I've not found anyone else who owns a 292 far though!

I have basic manufacturers data for the 292 available here https://www.service-data.com/product...32/4439/m13432

It is just circuit diagram, chassis layout, voltages and component list. The record deck would be a different manual.

If it helps, I have copy of the 292 service manual comprising 20 pages, although not in the best of condition and also the seperate 12 page parts list. The K3 turntable is a seperate manual again, as Paul has stated but I don't currently have that one, just a parts list for some of the turntables, which is titled 'electric motors'. I could supply scans via email if that is acceptable in not breaking forum rules.

That's very generous of you G6Dave. I wouldn't want to breach any rules either but I suspect you have more info there than there is in Pauls's listing [although I may be wrong about that]. If not , perhaps he would like a copy as well VRSD is a unique Forum resource and probably the closest thing to the well known Service Manuals series [but much better organised]. As you both say, the record deck is a separate entity. It's unlikely that I will set about restoring the 292 any time soon but as these seem to be a rare item, I tend to look out for anything associated with that Model. I continue to wonder why I have never seen another one anywhere That doesn't seem apply to other Marconiphone's! I don't suppose you ever came across one yourself?

I actually have the original operating instructions specifying a very long out door aerial and explaining the [electro-mechanical] silent tune between stations system, not really seen again until the 1970's in an all electronic form]

Not come across one myself but there again, I have'nt particulary been looking for one. I wonder if the original cost was a little too much for most people to be able to afford the purchase. Of course the set might have been available as a rental back then. Then there was and still is the change it for a newer model syndrome, where often the older set would have been thrown out or at best used for parts.

I think your high cost theory is very credible G6 Dave. I just hope that no 292's have been broken simply to remove the output triode valves in more recent years
