Fantastic info everyone and some very interesting background stories.
I ended up returning the clock because I felt like I paid way too much (almost a hundred quid) for one that's had its innards replaced. Upon purchasing, I thought it was near-mint and 100% original. I suppose the modification itself would not have been a deal breaker in the long run but in the case of a quartz converted clock, I would have liked to get it much much cheaper. The seller would not agree to a partial refund. The clock looked really nice, though - I will look for something a bit similar... This time, I'll pay more attention to how serviceable the guts are. |
