Re: Last Call for Manchester Wireless Swapmeet 28/10/07
Moved from earlier thread...
I have largely finalised the carload of items I intend to take for sale. These will include: valve radios (including 3 Bushes - almost a shrubbery?) transistor radios portable televisions oscilloscopes books, LPs and videotapes [Practical] Television magazines other odds and ends (including old 13A plugs) Prices will range between 10p and £5 (plus a junk box of free stuff) May I assume that tables will be provided?

You are clearly making a sacrifice to attend Mike! I should be there with my brother Phil who is providing transport. A good idea to flag it up John as people might forget with the move back to October [I nearly did]. Dave

The BVWS will have the usual table of goodies, and we are also putting on a display of about a dozen working 405 Line TV's from Pre-War to 1960's so come and have some fun watching old TV programs on working vintage TV's.

Re: Last Call for Manchester Wireless Swapmeet 28/10/07
Seconded John-thanks very much. For those who couldn't attend, it was a bit of a limited turn out re stalls and visitors but definetely a great venue if it can be built up as a regular event. It was good to meet forum people inc Steve P [again] who practically set up a workshop on the premises.
I managed take my Cossor Sivertone for Jcaines to photograph the works but had to make sure that no one bought it inadveretently! My brother Phil did the transport and even bought a couple of "nice looking" sets although he is not really a "radiohead".The exhibition of working 405 Line TV's really impressed both of us.A good afternoon out....although I was coming from Rammy and not Sussex. Yes, thanks from me too John, although I wasn't able to stay very long, it was good to put some faces to names and have a good natter.
Keep it going! Dave |

Re: Last Call for Manchester Wireless Swapmeet 28/10/07
Unfortunately we are having a fit of decorating and I'm also trying to get my new workshop sorted out. That and the fact that I was on call over the weekend meant I had to miss this one too!
I had started to sort out some surplus components and was contemplating a stall - maybe next time! Regards,

Re: Last Call for Manchester Wireless Swapmeet 28/10/07
As above replies. thanks very much John for the organization, and Mike Barker & Co for the TV display, I'm not got any old TVs myself, so seeing the old black & white one's brought back a few memories, not I might add the 1938 model, thats the first time I've seen one of that vintage, good to see some faces I knew and meet a few more, Steve P and Dave Walsh, thanks again for bringing the Silvertone Dave, the photos turned out fine. I enjoyed the afternoon and hopefully the event will be held again and bring in some more people.

Re: Last Call for Manchester Wireless Swapmeet 28/10/07
More pictures!
Next year we will send out booking forms with the Bulletin, so that everyone has plenty of time to book a stall prior to the event. This I hope will increase the number of stalls and the attendance. It's a shame there were not more of our northern members attending, especially as they would not of had to drive 160ish miles each way like we did. I would like to pass my thanks to John Marshman and his helpers for organising the event. The venue, I think was better than the previous church hall, and I hope we will be able to use it next year as it was so easy to find and had ample car parking right next to the hall. Thanks John! I would also like to thank Russell Atkinson for many hours of behind the scenes work polishing his Televisions and getting them to the event to show working. All I had to bring was the Cossor 54... I'd like to add my thumbs up as well, grand afternoon , and my thanks. Tremendous display of 405 kit, thoroughly enjoyed it. I do hope it becomes a regular event and grows with it. Like everyone else I was delighted to put some faces to names

Re: Last Call for Manchester Wireless Swapmeet 28/10/07
Dilys and I enjoyed it too. It's nice to meet and have a natter rather than an Auction and Stalls sometimes.
By the way, that wasn't my workshop, it was John's. I just sort of took it over! John has an 'Extremely Dodgy' standards converter. I was trying to make it work. Not far off... John - I think there's a way to do it. Can you PM me your Address and Phone No. please. Cheers, Steve P.
