Dial cord re-stringing tips
Hi. To make it easy when re-stringing cord drives for gang and cursors - I found it easy to utilise forceps. These are particulary useful in concealed areas, e.g around tuning spindles where there isn't much room to manouvre (e.g like miniature sets such as the Philips 209U). These tools could be considered as "extra hands".
Also, "Blue Tak" is very handy for temporarily holding down cord on to gang drums as you begin to wind it around its course. Regards Mike Last edited by Paul Stenning; 26th Dec 2004 at 11:19 pm. Reason: Fix link or code for vBulletin |

Re: Dial cord re-stringing tips
Don't forget the small spring stretching tools from Farnell and others. Excellent for pushing and pulling springs, cords and for looping cord around spindles.
The hooked ones are also good for tracing wires through a chassis. Good stringing to all

Re: Dial cord re-stringing tips
Hi,
I used to use sellotape or insulating tape to hold the drive cord around the drum. Another thing I've used helping with drive cord threading is a bent paper clip as a hook for pulling the cord through small spaces, I've bent up longer hooks from 22 gauge wire when needed. Regards Amanda |
