Oh - that may be a problem, as I was expecting it to be in the morning.

Re: Pls vote for date of Sept Manchester Swapmeet
Hi,
I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to make it on the 28th September; I'll be recovering from a party. Cheers, Kat |

Suits me fine. Can we have a map please!! Make life easier.
Did you fix that 1500 by the way. If not, bring it and I'll take a look. Kat - RECOVERING from a party? Jeez, I don't go to the parties you do... Cheers, Steve P

Re: Pls vote for date of Sept Manchester Swapmeet
Regret sunday morning - a more obvious choice for earlybird bargain hunters - not available as there's a service taking place.
Any thoughts re: wot I posted above on "ways to enliven the event" ? Have contacted Bulletin Editor so as to publicise in September issue. Hope to have Alan Marchant of the Vintage Wireless Co. with a selection of wares. Thought it might be an idea for each of us to list what we might be thinking of bringing along / lusting after, so here's a couple : Bringing to Sell : Japanese Valve set early 60's - with poorly knobs – weak on vhf Murphy Valve set early 60's Red Bakelite – weak on vhf KB Royal Star (sans feet) – sort of works Seeking : Any Frank Murphy Era set, as long as cheap 60's or 70's Dual Std tellys Bringing to Show : Well dodgy Stds Converter Ultra Lynx found in skip |

Re: Pls vote for date of Sept Manchester Swapmeet
John I remember somebody saying they had found an ultra in a skip when giving someone a lift into Manchester. Was that you I wonder? I've got one to work on but I can never remember which particular "cat" it is. Dave

Re: Pls vote for date of Sept Manchester Swapmeet
That's right, it's only the sheer happenstance of the thing that makes the set interesting - otherwise a tad scruffy ! Do by all means post your sets to dispose of/acquire - and if you see stuff for disposal on other links pls point them to this event - this should help stimulate more folks to attend.

Update 6/9/07
Hope to have with me at the event a stock of cheap sets from Alan Marchant - ie: the Vintage Wireless Co of Sale Cheshire. He himself can't make it as it's half term, but there will be a raid made on his offsite store the previous Saturday ! Pip pip John |

Re: Pls vote for date of Sept Manchester Swapmeet
Did you sort out that BRC1500? If not, take that too. It's a lot easier to help if you see the fault!!
Cheers, Steve P

Re: Pls vote for date of Sept Manchester Swapmeet
I have largely finalised the carload of items I intend to take for sale. These will include:
valve radios (including 3 Bushes - almost a shrubbery?) transistor radios portable televisions oscilloscopes books, LPs and videotapes [Practical] Television magazines other odds and ends (including old 13A plugs) Prices will range between 10p and £5 (plus a junk box of free stuff) May I assume that tables will be provided?

Re: Pls vote for date of Sept Manchester Swapmeet
I don't know 100%, but I would say 95% certainty yes. At all other BVWS events it is possible to join on the day. You could give Graham (membership secretary) a call during the week to confirm.

Re: Pls vote for date of Sept Manchester Swapmeet
I should have said above, if you do join on the day it will save time (for you and the membership secretary) if you print and complete the membership form from the website www.bvws.org.uk in advance, and take it with you. You'll have to do it on the day otherwise. Also taking a completed cheque for the payment would help.

Re: Pls vote for date of Sept Manchester Swapmeet
John Marshman has started a new (more appropriately-named) thread regarding this event. It would be best to continue discussion in that thread (and probably close this one).
