Default Partridge Electronics

Does anyone have any experience of dealing with Partridge Electronics? I came across the website a while ago and they seem to have quite a lot of hard to find stuff on there so I placed a small order and paid with paypal. I received a confirmation email at the time but that was over 3 weeks ago and I haven't received anything yet. I have sent 2 emails enquiring about the order but have had no reply.

Just checked the website and they say they have had an electrical fire that has taken out their stock location system.

Yes, that has been on the website for quite some time so not sure how relevant it is. The web site and ordering system look like they were designed in the 1980's and a look at the premises on Google street view shows it to be a small office / industrial unit with no signage on it. I can't really imagine that the "stock control system" is anything other than a small room with a few racks of parts bins in! No excuse for ignoring customer emails either, that is just rude.

If you paid with PayPal, open a dispute with them that will get noticed or get a refund.

Can I point out that apart from Arpanet there were no web sites in the 80's .

Cheers

I've had stuff from them in the past and was quite happy. Might be that you've caught them at a very bad time?

Good point but if there had been this is what they would have looked like!

If you look at the 'Bird's Eye View' of their address you'll see that it's a domestic property on Fleet Road Benfleet, rather than a company operating from commercial premises with permanent staff. That being so, maybe they're away or have some other personal or technical problems? Rather a shame - they seem to have lots of interesting hard to find stuff.

I see from their website that they were established in 1964. Same firm who did the 'Joystick' antenna or is my memory playing tricks?

According to companies house, Alfred Partridge, director is 88 years old, so he might only be doing it part-time these days.

Just to update, completely out of the blue I have received a refund from Partridge Electronics via PayPal. I hadn't requested a refund and hadn't raised a case with PayPal so not sure why this was done. I have had no communication from Partridge Electronics to say why they were refunding my money or why they could not fulfil the order. Seems a very strange way to run a business!

Maybe, but surely contacting me to explain the situation would be the normal thing to do, I have had no communication from them since placing the order despite the fact that I sent several emails enquiring about the order.

I also placed an order some time ago. I rang their customer service number on Saturday as it had been a few weeks. On Monday I also received a PayPal refund with the following note “Sorry we are unable to supply the goods”. I have had no email and the items I ordered were showing as in stock.

Regards

Graham

They should probably close down and stop accepting payments if this is the case. I would report it to PayPal. This is covered in their user agreement.

There's clearly a problem at the moment, but I think in the past they were sound and did offer a range of products that was very much under the "Vintage Radio" banner. Such suppliers are limited in number, so l'm inclined to say let's give a chance to recover.
