The working TV22!
Not the fastest restore ever. This has taken me 22 years to get around to doing it!
The Aurora arrived today. Incredibly easy to use and fantastic picture quality. Here is the picture on the TV22. The tube seems excellent. I don't know why but there are no flyback lines at all even at high brightness under high ambient lighting which is very unusual with a TV22. I 'stuffed' the huge .7uF switch off supression cap' with a couple of X2 'blue caps'. I originally replaced it with a couple of yellow polyester caps' but it looked terrible so I stuffed all caps on the top deck and it looks pretty good. The picture is the stuffed one. I did the same with the two .1 caps at the rear of the chassis. The set was lacking width when first set up on a testcard. This was due to the line drive trimmer cap' needing setting up. This seems essential for efficient LOP operation. A massive 'thank you' to everyone who gave advice and offered parts. I'm going to be watching William Hartnell as Dr Who on it tonight just as I did in 1963. |

Re: The working TV22!
I'm not really into TV these days, David, but I had to write this to congratulate you on your success. If I ever did feel the need to restore a TV, one like your TV22 would be top of the list.
Great job. -Tony |

Hi David.
That's a good looking set. I guess it won't be too long before I get a television as old as this... Well done and enjoy.

Nice job David, i look at mine every day, just as an ornament at present.
But will restore it soon, lovely little sets, & built to the usual bush standard Mark |
