Default Portable record player identification

Hello All

I wonder if anyone can identify possible candidates for this portable record player from a simple description given to me:

"It worked from batteries and you dropped 45s into the slot in the top. This would probably have been in the 1970s".

best regards ... Stef

The Discatron was quite popular for a while:

There was also a version with built-in radio, and a few years later Bush, then a Rank company, produced, using I think Discatron's patents, a smaller "Discassette" which played (but didn't record on) tape cassettes too.

I thought the 'Discassette' played 'Playtape' cassettes (endless loop, 2 track) not the more normal 'Compact Cassettes' which are what most people think of when they hear 'cassette' in relation to music recordings.

No, unless there was a different machine sold under the name. I had a Bush Discassette from new in the early '70s, I've another one now unless it went in the Newcastle auction just before our recent move, and they're definitely for playing standard pre-recorded cassettes.

Perhaps you're thinking of Discatron's Tri-Combo?
