PAM television in local shop
I spotted an old PAM tv in our local independant electrical shop, I thought the TV gents might like to see it. It was in very good external condition. Apologies for the pic, sun was right at the window.
Cheers _Andrew

I sold one like that for very little money a while back, they were made by Pye.

Re: PAM television in local shop
Was this the very skinny (front to back) set?

Re: PAM television in local shop
It's hard to say from the picture but I don't think so.
The tell signs are the feet, which stick out at the front and the knobs which on the skinny one are one above the other. It is a very nice looking set though, but of course it is a Pye in a different frock so it would be.

Re: PAM television in local shop
Yes it is the slim one very slim, the photo hides that fact with the pavement reflection.
It's The Pam 804 I've been after one of those for ages and I mean ages, they give a great picture, I've seen The Telemans running. What was the price wish It was up here. Chris Last edited by oldticktock; 28th Mar 2011 at 6:24 pm. |

Re: PAM television in local shop
That's the one, PAM 804, I couldn't remember the model. It had a protruding 'cone' in the backboard for the tube. Much slimmer than I thought it would be when I looked side-on. It certainly looked great sitting there next to the latest black and brushed steel 26 foot wide wide-screen.
Chris, I think it was just there for display and not for sale. As the shop has been trading in the town for decades and was a proper tv and radio shop at one time doing repairs and such-like, I can imagine it may even belong to the owners family. I can pop down there and ask though. Regards - Andrew

Re: PAM television in local shop
Hi Andrew, Oh that's a shame, never mind the hunt continues. The TV uses a 17" 110 degree tube which cuts down on the profile.
They did a 21" the 821, The 800 and 802 had a polaroid screen but not the 808, all these three were table models. Don't worry about asking, most people these days will stick it up on the web to get their max price, but thanks for offering that was a very kind gesture. Re: PAM television in local shop
I used to have one of those years ago before I really had the interest in vintage TV.. Wish I still had it.

Re: PAM television in local shop
My supposition was right on this one, I popped into the shop yesterday lunchtime and the set does belong to the owner of the business. It's no longer on display and unfortunately he wasn't there for me to try and persuade him to offer it a new home in Weardale, sorry Chris!
