Cosmos radiophone now working again.
After searching for some info regarding the tuning capacitors in this unit, I came up with nothing, except that they may be a special grease used in the manufacture ,the problem being they should be 500pf each but were only reading 270 pf ish .
So I found two small capacitors of the correct value managed to fit them in the original housing ,It is now together and working fine ,it's like driving an old car though but fun. The lase picture shows the original capacitor I wondered how they got a value of 500pf with just three plates must be the grease ! Note the three stage amplifier unit in the third picture ,on strong signals you can switch it to a two stage amp . Next project is to make a long wave coil pack that should be more fun .Mick. Re: Cosmos radiophone now working again.
After much experimenting with different coils to make the Long Wave coil pack I ended up with this , It works surprisingly well in fact probably better than the original M/W one ,no doubt due to the type of wire and the way the modern ones are wound . my L/W one is the top one Just switched on this morning to hear that England had lost at cricket.
