Default Avo 8 Battery

I needed an AVO 8 battery and refused to buy the correct one which is not easy to get.

I bought the AVO battery adaptor for £3.00, a set of 5 lithium ion button cells for £1 and found an old TV back to back adaptor.

Take AVO adaptor, push TV adaptor in rear , battery stack in the other and a small piece of insulating tape to hold it all in place. Job done.

A cruder approach is to stick 5 CR2032 batteries together with vinyl tape to make a battery stack and bend the battery clips in until they hold the stack firmly. Mine's been OK like this for over a year.

this is also a crude method, I also used pvc tape on 5 cr2032 batteries for £1 attached two short lengths of wire to battery positive and negative (with more tape) then pushed the wire's in behind the spring contacts, it's been fine for the best part of two years and still happily accurate.

I used the core of an old reel of solder to hold a stack of 5 Lithium cells in place, plus a short stub of 15mm copper plumbing to bridge the gap. Works a treat!

Blue MDPE plumbing water pipe cut to length is a good fit around CR2032 batteries.
You'll need a spacer to add to the length of the 5 batteries as they are shorter than the original AVO battery but it makes a good solid bodge free arrangement.

I used an even cruder approach, I wired a PP3 inside the case.

With my Avo 8, I wired two PP3 batteries and a 3.3 volt zener diode in series to give 15 volts, works a treat.

I can't see how you get 2 PP3's in the slot?

I did notice that the till roll core from the post office counters print out machine may well be the perfect tube to fit the battery stack in. Work in progress.
