Default Network balancing box

Hi Folks, I have a nice piece of kit in a black crackle box "Network balancing universal, No2,
cat No YB02505. This has a square white stamp on the back that looks to be a mil style, but not readable.

I'll try and post some pics later.
A combination of R's & C's are fitted inside the box and brought out to a patch pad on the front, with various combinations selectable. There are also 4 terminals, W, X, Y, Z, that look as thought they would be use as the in/out of a network or could be configured in a bridge network.

Any ideas? It looks as if it dates from WW2 as one of the caps has a 1043 date on it.

Thanks, Ed
