Default Fidelity record player FOC

I think this maybe an HF35 but anyway it has a BSR auto changer and a single UL84 (plus rectifier) amplifier. It looks all original and it does mostly work, hums a bit and volume playing a record is not bad though I donít know whatís typical. There is a label saying it has a stereo compatible cartridge. There is some evidence of damp damage, some rusty fixings and some rexine peeling but overall not too bad. The front grill is taped on, the fixing pegs are broken. The original figure of 8 mains cable, complete with tape bomb is present. This is a live chassis amp and to add to that, the deck is not earthed. I donít like such designs and am not interested in gutting it so offered FOC to someone who can take the proper care, make good use and not put it onto eBay. Collect from Marlborough.

Slightly surprised no one wants this, even just for the cartridge. Marlborough is fairly close to RWB, can hold till then if there is interest. Otherwise, will be disposed of soon.

That's a shame, I have an almost identical (earlier?) player except for the front is cloth and the controls are "edge on" & the output transformer was open on that (currently replaced with a wall-wart transformer and working OK-ish).

If I was closer I'd have offered it a home, as yourself I'm surprised there's been no takers. If the worst comes to the worst would you be prepared to rescue and post the chassis/OPT & cartridge so I could get mine repaired properly? Obviously I'd cover shipping and a drink for your trouble, and accept that the valves could well be damaged in transit.

Cheers,

EDIT-: Oh, also the TT mat if it'll fit the earlier platter & is in reasonable condition, forgot mine is made from cardboard!

I agree with you that if you're giving something away as large and fragile as that is, then you shouldn't be expected to have to pack and ship, even if costs of this are covered by the recipient. However, if you were to put a price on the actual item to make it worth your while, plus the packing and shipping cost, I'm sure it would be snapped up by someone in an instant.

I admire those that post and pack free stuff with just cost of postage being asked, as it can be a lot of effort, particularly if, like me, you live out in the sticks with no local post office anywhere nearby.

It looks like a c.1965/66 model with a BSR X3H stereo-compatible cartridge - which if working well - would be a steal!

Hi we may be close to your home at the end of the month, if so I would be pleased to accept the rp. If you want to sell the cartridge and amp separately thatís ok with me, Iím only interested in the cabinet and deck, Iíve got an ecl82 amp available to fit into the rp.
Obviously if you want to dispose of it before then please do so.
Cheers
John

Default Fidelity record player HF35 FOC

Last chance for the item in the thread ref below. If no one wants to collect it soon, I will salvage and keep the cartridge and skip the rest. Please note the comments re live chassis, beware !
