Re: Old Software on a new computer
.NET Framework 1.1 was one. Software should happily run with 2 (which is included in 3.5 sp1) but I struck one program - an old version of Quickbooks - which tested for a specific version and wouldn't install. It worked ok if a comptuer had been upgraded. Horrible software anyway.

Re: Old Software on a new computer
Thanks OldCodger and Arjoll - I don't have room for another PC albeit a W2000.
I'd be interested in a W.98 USB driver for a memory stick. I tried one download years ago, but it refused to work! Do you know of a reliable source for the different w.98 versions that I can download onto a Zip100? |

Re: Old Software on a new computer
brenellic - if you're running a machine capable of W98, then perhaps you might think of a partition to take W2000. I've got an old IBM 600 designed for 98, that runs 2000 happily ,and apart from the eject problems, it handles USB

Re: Old Software on a new computer
From memory you need W98 second edition to use more than one USB port. I vaguely remember having to unplug the modem to use the printer back when I used 98.

Re: Old Software on a new computer
I thought that Windows 98's support for USB was more-or-less complete at the root hub level, the main hassle was needing a third-party driver for mass storage. What you're describing sounds more like the marginal-to-none support for USB in Win95 OSR2.1.

Re: Old Software on a new computer
Definitely 98, although I did briefly use 95. It was a long time ago, and could have been a quirk of that computer.
