HMV 2818 Television 1591 Chassis - Switch Problem
Hi.
I have recently acquired a dead HMV 2818 portable TV with chassis 1591. During my checks I may have an issue with the on / off switch. When the button is depressed there is a nice click but as soon as the finger is released the button releases and pops back into start position. I've cleaned the switch with contact cleaner but this remains an issue. Whenever I have looked at TV's and Video before I have never encountered an issue with a power switch. Please see the pics I have attached. If this is a really silly question, apologies. Thanks. Neil |

The latch is missing. On the underside of the switch there should be a wire 'finger' or hook that moves around the track in the white nylon part this holds the switch on until you press again then in releases and continues around the track to the start position.
Have a look in the bottom of the set it may be there, otherwise you need a replacement switch. Rich.

If all else fails I might have a spare NOS switch hanging about. I just need to remember where they are first though..
Cheers Neil. |

Thank you for the replies, appreciated.
I cannot find the latching hook so I guess I need to source a replacement. @neil29 If you do have any spares, I would be very interested. Hopefully you can remember where you put them. I have plenty of stuff that I have put away and forgotten where. Regards Neil |

Hi Neil, if you can get over to Burnopfield you are welcome to look through my collection of these switches to see if there is anything suitable.
PM me for details. Ed |
