ITT Touring Studio 104
Hello everyone!
My first post and already asking for help. A few years ago I bought this radio as it works. Unfortunately, where I live, the working term also implies only the lighting of a LED while everything else is off. Ok, in fact the radio turns on but from AM or FM or other, only constant rustle. If I connect the iPad and use the radio as an amplifier, it works. The radio has since remained on a shelf first then in a box in the warehouse. Brought home, he is back the urge to try to fix it. Any idea / suggestion? Furthermore the bulbs of the "talking ladder/scale" always remain lit. Thank you in advance! Last edited by AC/HL; 14th Aug 2018 at 10:56 am. Reason: Thread split |

Re: ITT Touring Studio 104
I have one of these and the a transistor in the regulator circuit for the RF & IF stages was blown.
See this thread. https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...69#post1043569 I seem to remember the dial is lit whenever the radio is on Mains, but the bulbs are on a reduced voltage, when you push the "light" button the bulbs are illuminated to full brightness. When using battery you need to push the "light" button to illuminate the dial. Service manual is available in the Radio Museum. https://www.radiomuseum.org/r/itt_to...04_521514.html Mike Last edited by crackle; 14th Aug 2018 at 11:58 am. |

Re: ITT Touring Studio 104
Thanks Mike for answer.
I read the thread. I tried to open the radio but halfway stops and no longer slips. I noticed, at least it seems to me, that the woofer and maybe even the tweeter, but the tweeter is still covered, they are not original. At this point I screwed the three long screws on the back and the ITT Touring 104 will return to oblivion. Thanks to everyone. |

Re: ITT Touring Studio 104
The speakers should come out attached to the chassis. Once the chassis is out of the cabinet the speakers need to be removed from the chassis to get at the majority of the components.
If it is the same fault as I had on my one it is relatively easy to identify and fix, worth doing so as this is a first class radio. Mike |

Re: ITT Touring Studio 104
Unfortunately the chassis does not come out of the cabinet.
There is something that blocks it in half. |

Re: ITT Touring Studio 104
I have one of these in for repair at the moment and recently took the chassis out of the case. It was a fiddle but I did video it so I will see if I can dig the footage out. I am converting it to leds but there is a strange fault on FM as it starts oscillating when you turn the tuning dial. If you turn the radio off and back on again without touching the tuning dial it stabilises. AM is not working at all from memory. It’s on hold at them moment as I have a couple other repairs in front of it but hopefully won’t be long.
