Default Contact for Vision Aids

I was wanting some information and parts availability from the company Vision Aids. I have asked twice using the online form and have not heard back after the automated reply.

I was hoping that they may also have a telephone number so that I can speak to a real person - but there is not one on their website. Can anyone help with this please?

Also, are they an upfront company to deal with?

Thanks, Ian

A WHOIS query on the domain name gives an address and from this you may be able to get a phone number. http://webwhois.nic.uk/cgi-bin/whois...sionaids.co.uk

The "Satellite" link on the website takes you to SatCure who have a PO Box address in the same town so they may be related.

I am always wary of any company that doesn't have any contact info on their website, though I know nothing about this particular company.

Hello,

I have used this company before with no problems.

For the phone number, just put 'Mahn' and 'Telford' into Google - it does not seem to be on BT's web site.

Hi,

They've been the first place I turn to for TV/VCR parts for some years; I've never had a problem (though this means I've never needed to contact them.)

(And that's reminded me that I need to order a couple of belt kits...)

If all else fails I can try to dig out an invoice or packing slip and see if there's a number on it (I'm hopelessly disorganised, so this is non-trivial.)

What an abysmal website. Very difficult to find things.

Since they don't represent themselves as a purely "business to business" operation it has to be assumed they are selling to consumers and hence are breach of several sections of the Distance Selling Regulations. Notably lack of contact information and returns policy.

Thank you for the help - and contact details. I don't like the website either - but they are the only company to show the NV-F65 cassette holder in stock so I am pressured to use them. I will give them a call to at least confirm stock.

Thanks again, Ian

Used to be Martin Pickering who ran SatCure years ago and a very helpful chap back then .Also wrote a few books and did power supply repair kits for Sat Rxs.

Still no return call or e-mail response. Perhaps I will order something cheap to see if the company really will send out goods and not take my money and run.

Hello,

See this for a potted history (mainly of SatCure) -

http://www.satcure.co.uk/team.htm

Bit OT: As far as I remember, 'Economic Devices' used to be based in Wolverhampton, in the St Georges Square area, but when I went back last year to have a look the developers had been at work and nothing was recognisable any more!

I ordered a belt kit and cassette carriage and paid by VISA debit. No response, no items and no contact details have been received.

Perhaps they have ceased trading?

I can't find them on The Companies House website, even as a dissolved company. Perhaps they're not registered in the UK?

Unfortunately it's common for companies to cease trading, but leave their website active and accepting orders.

I always found Martin Pickering great to deal with, must be over 10 years ago when I was still repairing stuff inc. Analogue Satellite boxes. I wrote part of one of his FAQs back in the old days, but not been in touch for years. I'd forgotten he had teamed up with "Vision Aids".

Maybe there will be some small Greek Islands going cheap for the rest of us.

Default Vision Aids Telford

Hi.

Does anyone know if Vision Aids are still trading?

I have dealt with them many times in the past and recently ordered some components online and haven't had any response from them ie not answering email contacts etc. There doesn't seem to be a phone number listed on their web site.

Regards
Symon.

Hi.

I think I have found my answer in that this was discussed before on this forum in this thread:

https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...ad.php?t=70051

I nearly always search this forum before posting requests but as nothing untoward showed on a Google search, then I assumed the company was still trading hence this request. My apologies for this.

It is concerning that debit card details have been imparted to a non-existent company.

No telephone number, no terms and conditions, very poor indeed.
Their web site should be closed down.
