Good afternoon.
I confess I'm not entirely sure where this should go, this area seemed most appropriate. I have a question. In regard to items offered for sale, there have been a number of occasions when an item has been listed, which I was most interested in. However, more often than not, I find that I am pipped at the post by someone else. This obviously doesn't include item where a "hat" is deployed, it is assumed that it is simply the luck of the draw. This engenders frustration, because it happens so frequently. It is, of course, perfectly possible that some members spend their days permanently moored to that section of the forum, in anticipation of being first out of the trap when something interesting turns up. Possible, but unlikely. I was wondering whether there was in fact a mechanism (of which I am unaware) within the forum to advise when a new post in that section is made, and availing myself of such a mechanism would perhaps give me a better chance of not being last in the queue? I hope I am not speaking out of turn...

This forum is just a noticeboard where sales are concerned. There is no way to be notified when things become available, as there is with sites like eBay.
The mods encourage members to use the hat system when disposing of stuff, but we have no way of enforcing this even if we wanted to. It's purely a decision for the seller. |

Personally, I find it a bit annoying when the sale, after the initial for sale posting, is conducted by PM. You have no way of knowing how many minutes you missed out by. That's life I suppose.

Member Wellington wanted to post some instructions on how to set up an alert for a Forum section such as member sales.
Here is how to implement a notification for a particular forum section in this case Sets, Parts and Service Information Offered. See snips of the forum tools below. Select Parts and Service Information Offered Select Forum tools or the right hand side. Select Subscribe to this forum. Select Daily or Weekly Select Add subscription. The forum will Email your registered email address a notification when there is a new thread in the sales section. But note as Paul has already said it doesn't differentiate any new post will send an alert. If you get fed up with the notifications use the same path to turn off the subscription. Cheers Mike T
