Connecting Philips N4308 to external amp
Does anyone know how to connect the above tape deck to an external amplifier (not using the live connection on the deck)?
Thank you. |

Use the 5 pin DIN in/out socket. Signal on pins 3&5, screen to pin 2.

Is that the record/phono socket?

Re: Connecting Philips N4308 to external amp
Tape recorders are not really my thing but weren't there at least two versions of the N4308 with different DIN sockets? I'm not sure about the Radio/Phono socket. Sounds like two inputs to me. Hopefully someone has an N4308 and will be able to advise. Hi-Fi Engine has a service manual which might help but it is in Dutch. Should be possible to follow the schematic though.

This is my /55 model. The stereo connection has a live pin to be used with a Philips accessory cable, so I'm thinking that it will be the radio/phono connection.

Radio/phono should do the job. It's an in/out socket.

Re: Connecting Philips N4308 to external amp
I wondered what you meant Brian, by the live connection reference, I now see that there is a -26 volt internal supply fed out to pin 5 of the Stereo DIN socket.

Yes, the live connection was one of the very first things that was pointed out to me by other members; so much good advice/information on here.
