Re: Radiomobile 1085x no radio reception
That's how I've always said it.

Re: Radiomobile 1085x no radio reception
Cyldon was derived from the names Cyril and Donald.
Sidney Birds Sons So IMHO Sildon is correct it's how I have always pronounced it since being corrected by an old TV fella when in my early teens. One of my work colleagues did his post grad at Astaron Bird in the late 1970's in Poole. It collapsed shortly afterward He always refers to it as "Sildon" as well. Cheers Mike T

Re: Radiomobile 1085x no radio reception
Don't know that radio specifically, but many of them had the rightmost push button as the long wave selector. The four left buttons engaged medium wave, the single rightmost engaged long wave. Four buttons had 'M' on them, the rightmost 'L'
If this is so, then it's receiving long wave but not medium wave. David

Sildon indeed is as I always called the tuners.

Re: Radiomobile 1085x no radio reception
Thanks, Cobalt Blue (Mike) for explaining how the name Cyldon Came about. As for Bird Audio, I once visited their factory in, I think, Poole, as the firm for whom I worked sold their products, though the sales staff wouldn't push Bird products. Poor quality control let them down, IMHO. At that time the firm was Sydney (or Sidney)Bird & Sons Ltd. - late 70s/early 80s, IIRC. Although their car cassette mechanism was a Staar Based design, similar to that made & used by Becker and others, it suffered from speed regulation problems and may have been a contributory factor in the demise of the company.
