Smile The Museum of Technology

Apologies if someone has found this before...

http://www.museumoftechnology.org.uk...p?cab=wireless

That's just the Wireless page; there's a Gramophone page and many other consumer items under Domestic.

Even more sections on the home page and many more interesting pieces of equipment.

Warning... Do not visit unless you have time on your hands.

Mike.

I can highly recommend this one, having been there myself.

Unlike many static museums, quite a few of the exhibits are working!

You might want to know that it's exact location is the corner of Chapel Street and the High Street - but note that Chapel Street cannot be entered by vehicles from the High Street, but it is worth driving round to it as unlike everywhere else nearby you can park for free in Chapel Street, even just yards from the museum.

Good site isn't it; already spent nearly 3 hours on it trawling through the pages; amazing how many things on there that I had or still have.

If you live anywhere near Norfolk there's a place fairly local to me that houses mostly stuff from the 20th century; has loads of wirelesses, gramophones, etc. plus just about everything you could think of from your childhood and early days. The 60's room has things of most interest to us.

Well worth a visit; you won't be disappointed.

I visited in May last year, made an appointment for a weekend visit. It's incredible how much interesting stuff is packed in there. There's a small car park set back from the main road not far away. I never knew it existed until I found it doing a web search for a vintage coil winding machine. The owner is an electronics engineer who operates from the same building. Well worth a visit.

I think the owner is a BVWS member and I'm pretty sure I've met him at Harpenden some years ago. Can't remember his name
