I can't see clearly enough to see if the (Mono only) LP/78 stylus is missing. Is that what you meant in your question?

Before spending money on a stylus I'd test the cartridge first by gently rubbing the little rubber fingers while the amplifier is on. You should hear a bigger version of the same noise through the speaker, but the chances are you won't. I've not seen one of these cartridges that still works for many years.

I'd also test the amplifier. The whole cartridge assembly can be pulled off the end of the arm. Remove it and then touch the contacts at the end of the arm. You should hear a buzzing noise from the speaker.

Waaay back when I was about ten years old a neighbour gave me this exact gram (non-working). I recall it came with two mono pickup heads, one for shellac one for vinyl. I didn't manage to get it working as at that tender age I didn't know about the rochelle salt goo!

I recall there was a little' shelf' inside the compartment for the head not in use. The rocker head you have I think was a slightly later replacement.

I still have one of those two heads, just waiting for the day I come across a AG1006 deck to repair and use it on!

Actually the heads were is the AG3212-3213

Reading around, it seems that the gel they used to 'preserve' the crystal instead accelerated its decline - the heads only lasted a few years! That would explain why the 3016 was used.
