Re: How many 405-line sets are operational today?
Another word of appreciation for everyone contributing to this thread.
For contributors to this thread: I feel a general clarification would be helpful as to what counts as a "working" set - which after all is the aim of this thread to count. The picture may not be perfect (I remember how they often weren't 'in the day') and the set may drift, but the set should be capable of watching an hour's worth of programmes on. No, you don't have to actually 'check' this - just pass the set as OK if that statement sounds like it would apply. I am supposed to be intelligent enough to have read carefully through your post, so where you've already stated 'non-working', there's nothing more to do. However, you can always PM me (or post again here) to clarify information previously given in your post if you want to. For everybody reading and 'tuning in over the internet': These old television sets are potentially dangerous and you operate them at your own sole risk, and never unattended. You must only use them if you are sufficiently knowledgeable to understand the hazards arising from burns from hot parts, actual fire, poisonous materials, tube implosion, and electric shock, and if you (or somebody qualified) has adequately serviced them before switching on. I trust also that the owner of this site won't mind me drawing attention to the Warning and Disclaimer HERE. Steve Last edited by Panrock; 7th Jan 2019 at 10:58 pm. |

I have a KB PVP20 "Royal Star" restored to working but not in general use. I have an Aurora to feed it a signal. https://www.radiomuseum.org/r/kolste...tar_pvp20.html

Re: How many 405-line sets are operational today?
I've recovered after breakfast.
Of course I forgot to mention: Murphy V114 9" table model 1947. [One of my favourites due to it's history, location and restoration] Murphy V210C 12" console 1953. Ferguson 951T [The Birmingham version of the 941T. Sobell 19" D/S 1018. 1966. Sobell TPS147 14" port. 1957. I also discovered another Pye D16T in working order. 1946. A very smart but another nasty Murphy V150 with a flat Mazda CRM121B [What a surprise!] I think a few are hiding from me. They don't want to go 'on the list'. John. |

Thanks for that John. Yes, televisions for breakfast sounds a mite indigestible!
Thanks too to the valued posters on the two 'other' fora. I am keeping tabs on all three. Steve |

I almost forgot the famous Masteradio T852/2 which was subject of a lot discussion in this Forum. Also, another Masteradio TV set, the model TG7.

Re: How many 405-line sets are operational today?
This is amazing! Where has everybody been hiding? I had sort of assumed there would be no more than a dozen enthusiasts, scattered around the country.
By vintage radio standards, this is beginning to look like a mass movement. Once all the data's in, I'm going to prepare a map of the British Isles (UK & Ireland) with a little telly placed wherever there's a vintage TV collection! This will be free for distribution. We'll have this to look at whenever we want to be reminded we're not alone in our interest. Steve |

John,
Sorry the 103t is not a 103t. It is a 135t with a working Halo light. Dave |

Re: How many 405-line sets are operational today?
Even rarer Dave. Same chassis with a posh frock and a halo. You may have the only one!
The high voltage Halolight transformers are usually S/C but if you have a working one that is a bonus John. |

Re: How many 405-line sets are operational today?
My collection is tiny and consists of RBM A640 TV's. One a loft find, one given to me by a BVWS member and the other - just came my way! Originally only working on 405 when a Darrious converter was loaned to me. Now working using an Aurora or Rediffusion Ch1 Modulator when my only 405 line tape is played, curtesy of Clive Donaghue's late father.
Rediffusion Ely badged Bush TV161 Murphy V1910 Murphy V2014 One of the LOPT's requires a new EHT overwind, because of this the V1910 is currently retired but hopefully soon to be back in service. Chris |
