Re: Ferguson IKC2. Something went BANG!
Theres space on the board for two different size caps to go in, I'll go for a 300v and il get some 275s aswel just in case the space cant accomodate. Ive found them on Farnell. Roll on payday...

Re: Ferguson IKC2. Something went BANG!
Same as with the RIFA PME types. A legacy product for people who really, really, positively want to buy it and which was never that good to begin with when it wasn't yet a legacy product. At least, WIMA only has one series and never marketed it like crazy as RIFA did and seems to have a marginally better construction quality (though I did encounter a case where there had been a small fire, but that probably could have happened with RIFA as well).

Just ordered some Panasonic X2's for it, I reckon they'll hold up better than the Wima ones.

Re: Ferguson IKC2. Something went BANG!
Panasonic ones should be fine.
I have never heard of them blowing up but do make sure they are new. |

Re: Ferguson IKC2. Something went BANG!
Panasonic will work fine. The red (MKP) Wima ones are fine too. Both will last virtually forever. Even the cheap yellow Chinese/Taiwanese ones will work for a while and then deteriorate silently depending on how much noise they have to suppress. It's mostly only paper caps that go out with a bang.

That small blue capacitor may not be entirely innocent.

Re: Ferguson IKC2. Something went BANG!
Those small blue capacitors don't make all that mess.
They just fail with a little black notch on the edge. |
