Default R1475. Correct aerial plug?

I have just bought myself an R1475 and have been looking for the correct aerial plug to it, I believe that it should be a type 160 but I may be wrong (I quite often am)

I do not at this stage want to change it for a more modern type

Any ideas please

Hi

A further check around and I have found that I in-fact need a type 161 aerial plug it's M.O.D number 10/184.

The other thing that I am interested in, is an audio amplifier for the R1475, it is only designed to work from headphones, if any of our members have knowledge of an amp I would be very interested.

Re the amplifier, the simplest way to do this is to pick up a pair of computer speakers. From a boot sale probably no more than a couple of pounds.

Usually one speaker contains the amplifier so the other one can be discarded. The only thing you have to do is to find which wire on the input lead is for the channel you still have and wire that to plug that matches the 1475.

Some sets of speakers even have a headphone socket so plugging a pair of phones into that will automatically mute the speaker. Add to that that you also would have the ability to use phones with either a 1/4" or 3.5mm jack plug.

Bill, can you post a picture of the socket. I think I might have one but as its lost I don't want to spend ages looking if I've got the wrong idea.

Bill, I think you mean 10H/184, that's the Air Ministry Stores Reference for a Plug, Type 161.

10H/179 not the same number as Andy quotes but this looks right I think.

Yours if you'd like it.

Jim, is the number on the elbow 178 or 179?
My copy of Section 10H gives 178 as 'Accessories, Elbows' and 179 as 'Guards, Rubber Sheath'.
I agree it should be the correct plug.

I think Andy it is 178 but the 8 is a bit lopsided and looks like a 9. Should it have a screwed ring around it to clamp it to the socket.

I used to use it with my R206. I think my T1509 also had one.

Hi G4XWDJim

Thank you, I would like the aerial plug, I have sent you a PM but as I have not had a reply, I am wondering if I sent it correctly.

Regards

Bill,

I replied by email as you suggested asking you for your address. Best send it by PM as we know we can communicate this way. It's already packed to go.

Jim

Perhaps my reply is in your junk folder.

There are a pair of terminals of one of the Jones plugs with a 600ohm output. I used an output transformer which seemed to work well. Eventually I graduated to a speaker in a cabinet!
