Cleaning chrome dials/finger plates
I've just joined this forum and have a few questions, potentially stupid ones. I want to get a nice shine on the finger plate of my type 12 dial, what is the best thing to clean/polish them with?

Re: Cleaning chrome dials/finger plates
I'd use Duraglit, but I expect someone will say it's too abrasive and will eventually erode away the plating.

Re: Cleaning chrome dials/finger plates
Autosol is my polish of choice for this sort of thing. As Graham says, most metal polishes are somewhat abrasive, but if you use a good quality one it should be effective for a long time with occasional gentle buffing to remove fingerprints etc.

Re: Cleaning chrome dials/finger plates
The finger plates are stainless steel, not chromed, so there is no problem in using Solvol Autosol.
Only the central part that holds the dial label is plated; this may be chrome or bright nickel. Silvo (formerly known as Duraglit) or Brasso would be fine for this part. Andy E. |

Thanks for all your help, I found some autosol on ebay, might give that a go.
