Default Strange fault Sony ICF-SW55

Hi
The problem is when trying to store a station in a memory page.
Each page has 4 store positions. When entered it is stored, but if you go to another page ( it has 25 ) and back to the original page it disappears.
When a frequency is stored the number on the page 1 to 4 has a square around it.
All the pages 1 to 14 have squares on all 4 positions but nothing is stored!
Interestingly pages 15 to 25 are pre programmed in the factory to various countries and the local frequencies.
These memory's stay. If I insert a new frequency this also stays.
So it's only pages 1 to 14 which do not store.
I have recapped the radio including the memory cap.
Besides this fault the radio works well.
I have checked with another SW55 radio, which does not have this issue, so it is a fault.
Does anyone have one of these with a similar fault?
I have tried the reset button but with no change.
Cheers
Pete

I'm not familiar with this model, but does the microprocessor have any external reset components?
If so, might be worth checking these out. Of course, the microprocessor might be faulty.
Just a shot in the dark ! Tony.

A stuck or leaky keypad switch confusing the micro?
Alan.
