Default Old Decca 22 gramophone

Hi

I have an old wind up Decca 22 gramophone that was working but the Bakelite (or Bakelite type material) Bush that holds the playing head of the gramophone has perished and has decided to disintegrate. Any suggestions? Or should I just try and find a donor machine?

It may look like Bakelite, but what you actually have is hardened rubber. It's a very common problem with this model. Any donor machine or soundbox is likely to have the same problem. I solved this a few years ago with some rubber heater tubing from a car spares shop, a tube of Araldite and a bit of bodging!
