Is that the AC voltage between either of the anode connections and chassis?

Lawrence.

400VAC is the RMS (Root Mean Square) voltage. To convert this to peak voltage you'll need to multiply by the square root of 2, which as I said earlier is approximately 1.41.

Note: I wrote the following before I read Grahams post.

Good job you checked that then if that measurement is to be believed.

400*1.414 = 565, that's potentially what the DC voltage across the HT electrolytics can rise to....

See what the others think, seems higher than usual to me even taking into account a field coil loudspeaker if that's what's fitted.

Lawrence.

Looking at pictures of a similar restored set suggests that the speaker is a field coil type.

I'd just fit 600V electrolytic caps and have done with it.

If the circuit is to be believed there are a couple of other electrolytic caps in there.

One is connected to the cathode pin 8 of the 6V6.

The other is connected to the cathode pin 6 of the 6B7

They'll be low voltage types.

If wholesale capacitor replacement is to take place, replace any cap with a value in uF and leave those with a value in pF well alone.
