Default EKCO AD65 Disaster. valve question

Hi all
I am repairing the Ekco AD65 (which is in the cabinet refinishing section of the forum)
I have turned my attention to the chassis for the moment and after sorting out the bent tuning drive I am looking forward to powering up the chassis, unfortunately when the damage occured the output valve was smashed.
The original valve was a PEN4020, I have had a look through my valves and the nearest I can find is a AC5 PEN DD The main difference between the two valves that I can see is that the 4020 has a 40 volt heater and the Ac5 has a 4 volt heater, my quetion is can I sub the valve if I modify the heater supply or are there other differences that I have overlooked?
Many thanks

Rich.

Hi Rich, I believe the heaters are wired in series and all have a heater current of 0.2A. The AC5 PEN will not go here at all. I think a request to the wireless museum may be of benefit though if you can reverse the wiring to pins 2 and 6 you may be able to use a PEN40DD but its voltage ratings appear to be slightly less than the PENDD4020.

Thanks both for the information.
I have managed to buy one from colomor ( via e-bay) for £16.50 inc p and p.
I did get the radio for nothing so I can't complain !

Rich.
