Default First televised concert?

"Desert Island Discs" on BBC Radio 4 today featured the wife of the late Stephen Spender. She is a musician and played at the London Proms at the Albert Hall in 1948. If I heard her correctly she said that this was the first orchestral concert to be televised. I cannot believe this is true. Perhaps she meant the first post war concert? Can anyone give a definite answer?

Default Re: First televised concert?

The 1948 "BBC Yearbook", reviewing Television during 1947, on page 98 states, "Perhaps the crowning innovation was the televising of the last 'Prom' from the Royal Albert Hall". This site gives the date as 13th September 1947:-
