Default Pye P75A Repair Notes

Hi,

Recent set on the bench with a number of faults.

1. Low output with motorboating: Replace C28/C30/C31
2. No tone control: Replace C21
3. Distortion and no dynamic range: Replace V4 (EL41)

Note: All capacitors replaced with modern 400V radial aluminium electrolytics / 4000V general purpose ceramics. EL41 replaced with similar Mullard type retrieved from a breaking set.

Hope this helps someone!

Andy

Hi PCL802,

I'm a bit confused, (not for the first time). What is a PYE 75A ?
I jotted down your fault report and then refered to a PYE 75 cct. and it didn't make sense, is it the radio fitted in the radiogram version ?

Regards,
Tony.

The P75A is the same set as the P75, except it uses a 6C9 frequency changer whereas the P75 uses an ECH42. There are probably a few component value changes to suit the different valve, but the circuit looks almost identical.

The component references given above relate to the manufacturers service data. The references on the Trader sheet are completely different.

Thanks Paul,

Why would the 2 sets of service data have different component references?
I presumed the trader sheets were more or less copied from original manuals.

Thanks for your time,

Tony.

No, they often are numbered differently. The Poole & Malloy circuits are usually different again.

Best regards, Paul
