Default Decca 45 RPM Label Question!

Hi'

Does any Member know why Decca put "K/T" in capital letters just below the "ffrr" ear logo on many of their singles from mid–1964 until about 1967?

The letters survived the change from the "ffrr" logo with "DECCA" in an arc, which changed over to the "box" logo after F.12496 in mid–1966, but I'm not sure exactly at what Cat. No. the "K/T" disappeared!

Can any Member enlighten me?

Chris Williams

I think there might be an error in that description. Surely it wasn't income tax but purchase tax that was involved.

This might help Chris...the codes are the tax rating for the years in question KT being '63-'68

This also has a link to another useful site.

Hi!

And there was me thinking for more years than I care to remember, that it was some sort of technical code or abbreviation about the recording itself...!

Those stamps crop up on some of my 78 rpm records from the 40's and fifties.

I assumed they were to do with copywright administration. Interesting to know the real reason though.

I think your original supposition was correct regarding 78s.

Similar stamps, different purpose.
