Default Telefunken Rhythmus 1163, audio okay but no reception

Hello all! I have just bought a Telefunken Rhythmus 1163. This is my first ever vintage radio, never even seen one of them in real life before.
I bought it for EUR50. The seller made it clear that it had not been tested. Tried to negotiate but it was no use, he wouldn't budge. Came home, tested it out and it worked but there’s no reception, only static. I have some questions if you don’t mind.

Is it worth the price I paid for it?

How should I go about cleaning it? I am planning to clean just the exterior for now. Would warm soapy water suffice?

How do I test it? What equipment do I need?

What could the problem be? It’s currently using an internal antenna which looks okay to me. The bulbs and magic eye turn on and I can lower and raise the volume.

I’ve taken some pictures of it which I have attached to this post.
Higher quality pics below.

Circuit info here:

€50 sounds a bit pricey- not too bad for a pristine example in GWO but...... maybe old sets attract higher prices in Malta. As a runner it should give a good account of itself with its push pull ECL86 pair and multiple loudspeakers.

Having spent many wonderful holidays in Malta and having a friend and colleague who comes from Marsaxlokk where there is or was a Sunday flea market I found vintage radios to be thin on the ground.

You do see wonderful sets in the many themed Bars and Cafe's so maybe €50 is the going rate.

Water is fine for cleaning but use it sparingly don't get things wet. Use a furniture polish as well you will be amazed how it dissolves grime.
Experiment slowly to see what works for you.

This is a good looking well spec'd set worth a bit of effort.

Cheers
