Cool Can't open Beeb emul. "UEF files".

As a nostalgia exercise I have made up some simple BASIC programs on the Beeb Emulator and when I save them (on the desktop) they are saved as "UEF files".

Although they have been saved, when I try to open them with Firefox and press the "OK" button just nothing happens. (The "OK" button is now greyed out but nothing has happened.)

Any ideas, please?

Why are you trying to open BBC Basic program files with a web browser? What are you expecting to happen?

OK, obviously I am very confused. Can I ask the simple question :- On my computer, how do I save programs I have made up on the Beeb Emulator? (And re-load them another time or the next day.)

Thanks, John.

I haven't used a BBC Micro (or any other Basic) for many, many years, but don't you save programs using the 'save' and 'load' commands?

The emulator will be creating the UEF file when you 'SAVE' your program to tape. The UEF file is effectively the contents of the tape. Somewhere on the emulator's menus will be the option to put that tape in the emulator's 'tape deck' so that you can then 'LOAD' the program again.

I've got BeebEm here and the option is File -> Load Tape. Having chosen the UEF file I can then type LOAD "" and load whatever's on the tape.

It might be easier to use a disc image instead, if your emulator supports that.

OK, I think I have the answer that works for me. In "File" (in BeebEm) there is a "Save State" button where you give the program you have made up a name and press Save. Different progs can be saved with different names.

To reload it's "File", "Load State", click on the prog. you want and press Load.

Simple when you know how. Thanks for the help.
