Default NVCF: Collections and deliveries

The NVCF is the highlight of the year for the Forum Courier Service. Many of us will be bringing stuff for others to collect. Time to start the reminder lists of who's bringing what and for whom.

As in previous years the space behind the Bring & Buy stall may be used for FCS stuff in transit, subject to space and at your own risk. If you do this, please label all kit with your name, the recipients name and any other relevant details. It can get pretty chaotic around the B&B and we don't like stuff going to the wrong people.

I'll start a separate thread for the B&B itself.

If those using the B&B as a Courier Service drop-off/pick-up point would care to leave a cash donation to the Museum, I'm sure that would be appreciated by all involved.

If everyone dropping off and picking up each donated £1 per item/box we should accumulate a decent total.

I wouldn't like to make this a compulsory charge but hope that many of you would like to make a donation. All profits from the B&B (NVCF and Harpenden) go to the Museum. If I sell something via the forum I often donate a percentage to the Museum.

Does anyone have a money collecting box, as used by charities, that we could borrow for the B&B stall on the day?

We could always knock one up (I probably won't have time but maybe one of our woodworker members might oblige).

I might be able to throw something together - nothing fancy, just recycled plywood... What sort of size? And design - money-slot in the top, hinging panel with padlock clasp?

Cheers,

Mark

That would be great. Please don't spend a lot of time on it. Actually I was thinking that an old and worthless radio cabinet with a slot in the top might be as good as anything. Whatever we use we'll need to make a nice bold label to say what it's for.

I've got too many things to list here, but have been PM'ing people over the last few days to ensure we've got contact numbers. Also, I finally got the chance to put together a collection box for the B&B stall - a simple box made from recycled plywood and hardwood. It's about 8 inches square and 12" high, and the slot is wide enough to accept cheques and notes (although I haven't got any high denominations to test it with ). I thought that the dark wood effect (probably mahogany or one of its many copies/substitutes) was fitting for the event - does anyone want to donate any Bakelite knobs or period grills or dials to finish it off?

Cheers,

Mark
