Default Haynes Advent Calendars £4.99 each

For anyone who might not have wished to fork out £29.99 for one a month ago:

Now down to £4.99 - ('six for the price of one') - in Maplin's Clearout:

https://www.maplin.co.uk/p/haynes-bu...calendar-a10yh

118 items in the toys & kits section of the sale.

Lots of other things that might be of interest - crystal radio kits, Velleman kits etc, though nothing takes my fancy.

Ho hum - didn't bother checking stock levels of locations - not interested in one.

Down in Putney till tomorrow, I did notice they had some weather stations the other day, heavily discounted to about £50.00 - solar powered, wi-fi, self-emptying rain gauge and what not. Again, of no interest to me, but may be to others.

I notice a lot of components being cleared out as part of their de-stocking - preset pots and the like. Lots of test prods too. Worth a browse maybe.

I'm sure I've seen these in Waterstones (book shop) and the gift displays at Debenhams before Christmas. Might be worth a look if you're dragged out to the New Year Sales.

It was a good tip by David my eldest grandchild would probably just about ready Xmas next year but I suppose I could just use the ladybird radio as I did with my own children and one of my nephews.

At £4.99 it would be a no brainer though

I did have a brief look at some of the other stuff but nothing caught my eye.

Cheers

Debenhams in Bromley had a couple of the FM radio ones (but none of the electronic games ones) half-price (£12.50) in their sale this morning. Might be worth looking in said shop if you have one locally.

When I checked a few days ago Londonderry also showed as the only Maplin store with one available but out of curiosity I checked an hour ago to see if it had been snapped up - they still had it in stock plus the Loughborough and Bromley stores now showed one apiece so I ordered the Bromley one.

When I picked it up from Bromley this afternoon I was told it came in store yesterday as part of a late Christmas delivery and was the first one they'd seen.

I haven't opened the box yet.......I'm in no hurry!

This radio kit was featured on BBC Radio Wiltshire throughout December. It was fun to hear Ben Prater and colleagues assembling it each morning. Initially they were referring to the "breadbasket" rather than breadboard, it was all very lighthearted and may have encouraged others to have a go.
