Hello,

Would anyone have any service info for the Hacker SP80, please?

Regards,

Phil.

Hi Phil,

I think you might have more luck looking for hen's teeth.

The SP80 was produced towards the end of Hacker's existence and I have never come across any service information specifically produced for one.

However, the AM/FM receiver is more or less the same as that used in the RP77MB Sovereign IV and the RP78 Aviemore. The stereo decoder is again very much the same, as the one used in the RP76MB Silver Knight.

What is your specific problem? The only problems I've ever experienced with these, are the tuning/dial cord falling off and a noisy lockfit output transistor in one of the PAs.

Regards,

Ian

Hello Ian,

Thanks for your reply.

I did wonder if they ever got around to producing one before they closed, but we live in hope that something escaped from the factory.

Mine works well - better than I was expecting actually. It has suffered from a dry joint and required mechanical 'noise supression' to get rid of various resonant rattles.

Regards,

Phil.

Have the cheap moulded plastic speaker grilles fallen off yet?
