Default Fidelity Ayr Radio help required please.

Hi All,

I have an elderly Fidelity radio from, i'd guess, the early 60's.

The big issue I have is there are no battery connections and need some advice as to where the 9V should be connected. A pointer to a circuit diagram would be great.

I've attached some pictures to help.

Many thanks in advance.

Info here for £1.99 https://www.service-data.com/section.php/2915/1/ayr

Battery negative wire goes to the on off switch, bat positive goes to somewhere on the common ground plane one end of the volume control also goes to this plane (the OTHER end of the track goes to the diode) I would expect you would be able to see where the wires had been attached, possibly on the volume control track.

John.

Looking at the component side in one of the photo's I would say that the battery -ve connects to the lower right hand switch tag on the rear of the volume control and that the battery +ve connects to the top tag of the volume control which I would say is connected to signal ground according to the copper tracks on the reverse side of the board.....Extra Info.....There might be a hole on the board next to that tag that will take the battery +ve connection through to the copper track side instead of soldering it to the tag itself.

Lawrence.

Many thanks both.

I've ordered the PDF and waiting on the download link.

Yes, looking at an Ayr here confirms what John and Lawrence have said. The black wire goes to the switch tag on the back of the volume control that's next to the one tag which still has a connection on your set: and the red wire to the uppermost (nearest to the driver transformer) of the three tags on the volume control itself.
