Derwent Cream Radio
Just acquired one of these in mint condition all checked and working fine it was very grubby but cleaned up well with damp cloth, what is the best polish to use on it to get a nice shine?

Re: Derwent Cream Radio
That is a lovely example. Mine was identical except that the case was cream sprayed brown bakelite. Just use a standard spray furniture polish on this as solvents in the polish will dissolve any marks and silicones will provide a shine.

Re: Derwent Cream Radio
Is the is the one from the Featonby's auction? It cleaned up nicely.
Since it doesn't come with any history, I would suggest that you don't power it on until it's been looked at properly. Especially since it's a 'live chassis" radio, do avoid the temptation of sticking anything into the sockets at the back. Gabriel |

Re: Derwent Cream Radio
It's had a good inspection by me including dim bulb tester then an extensive going over by a friend who has all the equipment and who changed a few capacitors.
When I got hold of it you could tell it hadn't been been touched/opened/bodged from the layer of dust inside to the screws in back panel/decades of grime on outside/original power cable. All the grime wiped off with a damp cloth leaving a scratch/damage free case with dials and knobs in great condition, just need a good polish to finish it off |

Re: Derwent Cream Radio
Same factory as Raymond electric in Perivale. I don't know what the relationship was between the two but the sets were very similar
