Default Ultra T401 drive cord issue.

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to get my Ultra T401 working but although the string is tight the middle tuning knob doesn't turn it. Is there some method to get more friction on the either the string or knob ?

Cheers

Baz

Have you confirmed the dial is strung as per the manual and that the tuning gang and any item in tbe dial cord path are not stiff to turn?

cross post, but same thoughts

You don't say whether you have the Maker's data sheet, which includes instructions on re-stringing the drive cord. If not, you can get the data at the top right for £1.99.

As dial cords go, the T401 is quite simple - from the dial drum, clockwise twice round the tuning control spindle (which gives 1.5 turns), then to the right of the idler wheel and left around the drum to meet up with the start of the cord, where the ends should be tied off on the tension spring to take any slack out of the cord. If the tuning capacitor, drive spindle and idler wheel all turn freely, the most likely cause of an slipping is insufficient tension on the spring.

Hope that helps a bit.
