Default Philips B4X12A Radio

Hi guys Picked up a new radio today from a local antiques shop. tested it when i got home to find it electrically sound but mechanically faulty. So I set to work stripping it down. the buttons on the front could be pressed with effort but where sticky and would not eject back out. A good clean in side and lots of oil later they work fine now. The bottom selector needle would not move was totally stuck again clean and oil fixed. Now it was fully working but was filthy inside and out so spent the next hr or so cleaning it to how it looks now. And I have to say its a very handsome radio will be putting this in my front room, it also has fantastic sound.

Hope you like it I am new to radio so this is really nice for me to have a nice working one. Picked up a 1940s one today too and that's stunning. its a Ferranti 146 but that's for another day

Good work. I was interested in your post as I got one of these myself yesterday. Hopefully mine will work one day too!

I'd check that that capacitor from the EABC anode to the grid circuit of the output valve is good. If you're lucky and it's a "mustard" type or a ceramic it will be, but check for zero grid volts anyway........
