Pye MP40 value.
Hi all,
I've been offered a PYE MP40 set, which I believe to have been made about 1940. Outwardly it is in very good condition, nothing missing but I've got no idea if it works or not. Can anybody suggest roughly what I should be paying for a set like this? All my limited experience has been on 1950's sets. Alan |

Re: Pye mp40
The date is about right, these were introduced in may 1939, it will be a nice set to work on, price really depends on condition, but as a guide, around £20-25 seems about right.

Re: Pye mp40
It was among the last of the civilian sets produced during wartime, 1940 to be precise and as you suspected. It's a slightly cheapened version of the just-about-prewar MP and MP/C but with the same chassis and line-up; ECH33, EF39, EBL31 and AZ31.
Nothing special, maybe £20 if you're in a generous mood. |

Re: Pye MP40 value.
Thanks Mark
I really want to buy this one if I can get it at the right price because it has Daventry on the dial. I lived in Daventry for over 40 years within the shadow of the BBC transmitters, so I have a sentimental reason for buying it. Thanks Darren I will have to make sure that I don't let my heart rule my head and stick to about £20-25 Alan |
