Default RIP John Kennedy of Youghal & Ardmore in Ireland

Was saddened to hear of the death last week of John Kennedy of Youghal & Ardmore in Ireland,
amongst other interests he was a great historian on vintage radio and TV with regards sets sold in Ireland:

Here he is in this video from 2014:

This is of a vintage radio/TV etc exhibition which was setup upstairs at the community radio station (C.R.Y.) where he presented a Sunday morning show (exhibition was set up then especially for attendees of a national community radio get-together which Youghal hosted).

He also ran his well known shop in Youghal which he kept going more of a hobby in recent years on a part time basis, many locals would call in just for a chat, and tourists looking for information of the local area were often directed to call into him.

He did many installs in the surrounding areas for people getting their first TV sets installed in the 1960s and had various stories from those days.
He has also contributed to documentaries on national (RTE) radio.
RIP

I met John a few times in his shop in Youghal in the last few years. Only last summer we had a good chat about failing LOPTs in TVs in the area possibly due to the sea air and mists causing failures. He told me about the radio cabinet manufacturing in the town, and at Castlemartyr and showed me around his collection of radios in the shop.

He will be sadly missed. Keep the soldering iron hot and those valves glowing John.
