Sony TR-72 Cheery Wood Cabinet 1955/56 - Classic!
Hi all, I haven't posted in a while, hope everyone is well. I've researched and listed a Sony TR-72 on my site. These are really great looking radios that originally went on sale in December 1955 and had a production run of about 4 - 5 years. See the link below. Hope you like it

What a smart, solid radio that is, and superb photography as usual. A real treat.

I have one of these, really nice looking sets. It works but has low audio.

Re: Sony TR-72 Cheery Wood Cabinet 1955/56 - Classic!
I'll have to get it out, it's in storage at the moment.
It came from a "junk shop" in Edinburgh about 1983. It's history before that is unknown. The batteries had leaked and made a bit of a mess of the bottom but it cleaned up reasonably. What somebody had done, however, was to paint it white!!! We stripped it down and varnished it so it looks like it should do now. The volume/on-off switch was dud so that got replaced but we never got to the bottom of the "low" audio - not so far anyway! Cheers Robert |
