Homebrew '70s colour tv sets
Building one's own colour TV set was a major undertaking, there was a design in "Wireless World" in the late '60s and of course in "Television".
In the March 1974 issue of "Television" there's a fascinating look at David Robinson's 26" receiver, which was entirely solid state apart from the PYE CT70 line output stage complete with PD500 and GY501. The picture of Test Card "F" on the front of this issue on the set looks superb! I see there's a David Robinson on this site. I don't suppose it's the same one by any chance? If it is, do you still have this marvelous looking set? Hearing about it would make fascinating reading! Any more home brew sets around? Cheers, Brian R |

I think you will find it is the same David, Brian!
Wonder how many folk made the thyristor LOP CTV designed by Luke Theodossiou in Television?

Didn't the Wireless World set start with a superb quality IF strip? I think I bought the PCB...
If I did, and can find it, does anyone want it?!? £0 Graham |

Re: Homebrew '70s colour tv sets
I have read the story of an East German engineer who made a homebrew colour tv set. I have given a translation of in in AK. Go to
