Re: 1930's domestic British radio
John's (HCS) Cossor looks like a 376B of 1936/7 vintage (1937 model year released in 1936 ) should give a good account of itself with its class B PP output stage.
It should put out over 1W with good battery economy Cheers Mike T

Re: 1930's domestic British radio
The farm where my Mum grew up on didn't have mains electricity until 1959.
There was a petrol generator for the farm equipment & some of the house lighting, but it didn't produce enough to run a TV. I'm not sure if it could cope with a radio or if they used a battery set.

Re: 1930's domestic British radio
Hello,
I have a battery set that was given to me by a local farmer which was bought by his parents circa 1936 and used on the farm from then till the late 1950s when mains electricity arrived. It is a Cossor 3733 https://www.radiomuseum.org/r/cossor_3733.html. (There are mains versions of this set which look the same.) Yours, Richard |

Re: 1930's domestic British radio
I'm sure a large range of radios would fit the bill, How about a Murphy AD32, (1937) one of their cheapest sets at the time and still very good, plus there was a battery version for those that didn't have the luxury of mains electricity.
