Eddystone radio?
On my wanderings around the Wednesday boot sale I came across this interesting box of radio bits.
I couldn't resist buying it even though it did not have KB anywhere on it. What do you think the model is, or is it in fact a home made effort, put together in a Eddystone die cast box. The valves are (not all original I should think) are;gold one at the back SP2, small centre one unknown but looks like a triode, output PM22A. Mike |

Re: Eddystone radio?
Hallicrafters used similar spoked knobs.

Re: Eddystone radio?
It does look rather like a home-made job - though in the 20s and 30s there were a number of semi-kits offered to the amateur/shortwave market - see the "Eddystone Short Wave manuals" for examples: http://eddystoneusergroup.org.uk/edd...-wave-manuals/
Whatever, it's nice! |

Re: Eddystone radio?
Could be the "Eddystone Three" looking through the early sets.

Re: Eddystone radio?
The cabinet is very much like this one in the Eddystone 1935 Short Wave Catalogue. Except the my one has the cast front panel very neatly cut away leaving a flange with threaded holes and a sheet aluminium one screwed onto the flange.
The ceramic valve holders are marked Eddystone, as well as the 6 pin coil former and tuning condensers. It has a number of, what appear to be, interesting resistors in glass tubes, with screw cap ends. Mike |

Re: Eddystone radio?
With the single coil with a blue spot it appears that the radio should be able to cover the 16m to 25m bands.
Has anyone got information on the Eddystone AW3 (if it did in fact exist) thanks Mike Last edited by crackle; 6th Jun 2018 at 3:45 pm. |

Re: Eddystone radio?
It's a home-made jobby, almost certainly.
But lovely craftsmanship and materials. A keeper, for sure!

Re: Eddystone radio?
Whatever model it turns out to be, it looks highly amusing and in decent condition, well worthy of a loving home.
