Perhaps this should go in the wanted section?

I need the setup manual for the GL75. where does the little weight attach How do you know its adjusted correctly?. What is the other counterbalance thing for? etc

Glad you asked about the small weight on the GL75 arm.
I picked up a deck myself during the week from a recycling yard and it had a piece of what I thought was black cotton with a washer on it.

.
I almost tore it off .
Then I thought maybe thats supposed to be there .
But my other Goldring Lenco hasn't got this weight on it.
Maybe I will have to make one of these weights somehow.
Anybody know what weight it is or isnt it critical ?.
Thanks for the download which wil save me a lot of searching for info.

Hi Peter, The weight and thread you refer to are for the anti-skating arrangements on these decks, The manual describes the correct setup.

I have downloaded it but haven't read it yet.
Somewhere I have a paper copy of the manual but not sure where it is at present.
Although this deck looks OK the same cannot be said for the stylus.
The tip is missing.
At the moment the cartidge as fitted is a Pickering V15/AT2.
But I think I will change it for a Goldring G800 or G850.
Can't remember which one it is that I have.
Anyway,Im pleased PWH mentioned the weight as I was going to ask myself..

The antiskating weight for a GL75 is 10mm in diameter,6mm high and weighs around 3 grams.Attached to a 5,5 cm thin line.

I would say that a GL75 deserves something better than a standard G800 - I would suggest upgrading to an elliptical stylus at least.

A year or so ago at a boot fair, I bought a couple of those plastic containers with small drawers in.
Originally from a shop that had closed down.
Anyway, one of the drawers contained some new old stock cartridges and boxes of stylii.
Two Goldring G800 with grey plastic stylus holder .
As well as three new boxed replacement stylus. All for the G800.
1/ Diamond D.110 std for 78 0nly
2/ Diamond D110E Elliptical 33 1/3 and 45s only {Same colour as the
ones in the cartridges which I assume are Elliptical ?.}
3/ Diamond D.110 SR 33 1/3 and 45 only {White holder}
Plus
Three BSR SC7M1. four BSR ? SC8H1.
One ACOS GP.91-1sc mono cartridge with stylus.

Three Shure Diamond stylus N75-6{boxed}

Five boxed stylus. odds. 1 GDD2-St/LPx2-D/D
1 BSR ST12/14/15 replacement [01-002
1 DSC replacement for EPS36 [no 662]
1 ST20 replacement [01-003
1 DSC replacement for ST19 [no98]
Plus other odds/sods.
So I am guessing that the cartridges with the grey holders are G800
Thats why I thought I would use the G800 to replace the worn out
pickering stylus.
Anyway, I have listed the things in one of the drawers in case
someone may wish to comment.
I have two old Shure cartridges M93E and M75-6s.
I was wondering if I could use the Shure Stylus above with either of
these.
I am well aware these are old cartriges etc but feel they are still of
use.
Sorry for going on a bit.

I think there were two differently-sized antiskate weights for the GL75 (not just the one)?

I seem to remember that you put on a different weight if you were playing 78"s
As regards the cartridges i would certainly try the n75 in the cartridge body ,if its going to fit then it will slide in very easily.
A lot of the styli you list used to fit things like bsr decks in manufacturers casings, the lists used to go on for pages back in the 70"s

When I was referring to a G800 I was talking about the one with the white stylus housing. If it has a grey stylus housing then it is a G800E which ought to be a better match for the GL75 than the standard G800. The only difference is the stylus but, with cartridges, the stylus assembly is by far the most important part. Goldring also did a G800 Super E which was the top of their range in the early 70's.

The M75-6 is a strange beast as doesn't look anything like the rest of the M75 range. I'm not sure whether the stylii are interchangeable with the rest of the range but I would be tempted to go for the G800E if you want a refined sound or the M75-6 if you want a louder, brasher sound.

Coincidence Peter, I've got a lot of ex-stock stuff [from a Bury Vac Shop] and some Shure info but I'm still sorting out for my dedicated 78 deck. Might be able to answer your question in due course or find a cartridge if you need one. Dave

not sure which Peter you were referring to but I do need a catridge & stylus for 78's so if you have one, please PM me, must of course be the 'one inch mount' type to fit the Goldring headshell

I have just found my "Goldring Lenco" instruction manual and plinth plan? plus the stylus adjusting gauge which I bought two years ago.. There are indeed two weights originally supplied 1 grm and 4 grm. The information differs slightly to the downloaded version..

As I was looking for the booklet I came across another old Goldring Lenco deck but it didnt have a number. Since found a picture of one and its a GL59.. Hardly any difference underneath. But the arm is very different. Still has a removable headshell but it is quite big. Fitted with a shure m55e cartridge..
